Conversion Tracking
Your ad platforms each claim the same sale, and none of their totals match the figure finance signs off. That gap is not a rounding error — it is why budget decisions get argued rather than made. I rebuild measurement end to end: server-side events, deduplicated and consent-aware, reconciled against recognised revenue every month.
What you get
DELIVERABLES
- Tag, pixel and data-layer audit across every property, with a reliability score per event
- A written event schema — names, parameters and triggers that every platform and report agrees on
- GA4 property and Google Tag Manager web container rebuilt from that schema
- GTM server container wired to Meta CAPI, Google Ads enhanced conversions and TikTok Events API, deduplicated by event ID
- Consent Mode v2 with region-aware collection rules and a documented denied-consent path
- Reconciliation dashboard mapping platform-reported revenue against the finance number, with the variance broken out
- QA runbook your developers re-run after every release, so the next deploy does not quietly break checkout tracking
How it runs
THE PROCESS
Signal audit
Every tag, event and destination gets fired, intercepted and graded against last quarter's actual order data. Most accounts find at least one event that has been silently broken for months.
Event schema
One naming convention and one parameter set, written down before a line of code changes, so the platforms, the dashboards and the warehouse stop telling three different stories.
Server-side build
A GTM server container goes live alongside the existing browser tags, with event-ID deduplication and Consent Mode v2, then runs in parallel while both sets of numbers are compared.
Reconciliation
Platform-reported revenue is tied back to what finance recognises, monthly. Where a gap remains it gets named and sized, rather than quietly smoothed out of the report.

GOOD QUESTIONS
Often, yes — the implementation itself is not exotic. What takes the time is the decision layer: which events count, how they deduplicate, what fires when consent is denied. If your developer has shipped three of these, hire them. If this is their first, you are paying them to learn on your revenue data.
Below roughly $10k a month in paid media, usually not — the recovered signal does not pay for the server costs or the maintenance. Above it, matched conversions typically move by double digits, and that changes what the bidding algorithms optimise towards. I will tell you which side of the line you sit on before you commit.
Three to five weeks to build, then two to three weeks running in parallel with the old setup before it is retired. I do not switch tracking over on a Friday and hope. If you are heading into peak season, we wait — rebuilding measurement during your biggest fortnight costs you the data and the quarter.
They will not match exactly, and anyone promising otherwise is selling. Attribution windows, view-through and returns guarantee a gap. What you get is a gap you can explain and size, consistently, month after month — rather than one that gets argued about in front of the board.
Tracking first, almost always. Testing without trustworthy measurement is redecorating in the dark — you cannot call a winner on an event that fires twice. If your conversion data is already deduplicated and reconciled, skip this and put the budget into the testing programme instead.
