Team Training
An agency retainer is rented confidence. You pay monthly for judgement your own marketers could hold permanently, and when the contract ends the judgement leaves with it. I train in-house teams on their own live accounts — media buying, creative testing, measurement — until they can defend a decision without phoning anyone.
What you get
DELIVERABLES
- Skills audit scoring every marketer across media buying, creative briefing, measurement and analysis
- Curriculum built on your live campaigns — no generic case studies, no borrowed screenshots
- Weekly working sessions where the team ships real work and I review it in the room
- Written playbooks and SOPs covering account structure, naming conventions, budget pacing and test design
- Creative briefing templates and a testing calendar the team runs without me
- Recorded sessions and an internal knowledge base that survives staff turnover
- Two follow-up review cycles and 30 days of office hours after the final session
How it runs
THE PROCESS
Benchmark
Each marketer works through a live diagnostic on your own accounts. I grade the output rather than the CV, so the programme targets the gaps costing money this quarter.
Curriculum
The programme is built around campaigns you are running right now. Every exercise uses your data, your budgets and your constraints — nothing is taught on someone else's account.
Working sessions
Weekly sessions where the team briefs creative, restructures accounts and reads their own numbers out loud. They do the work, I correct the reasoning while it is still wrong.
Handover
Playbooks, SOPs and a review cadence get written down while the thinking is fresh. Then I step back for two cycles and only intervene where the standard actually drifts.
Questions
GOOD QUESTIONS
Sometimes you should — if you need execution capacity this month and have nobody to train, an agency is the faster answer. Training is the better answer when you already employ capable people who have never been taught the discipline. Rented capability costs you every month; built capability costs you once.
They can learn the interface from YouTube. What they cannot learn is judgement on their own account — which test to kill on day four, which metric is lying, which budget change is noise. The value is that the work is theirs and the review is immediate, not that the content is secret.
Four to twelve people. Smaller loses the argument between them; larger loses the hands-on review that makes it stick. Junior teams often return the most — you get senior-level output from people already on the payroll. What does not work is sending one person and expecting the habit to spread.
Some will, and the objection is fair. But the playbooks and the recorded sessions stay in the building, so the next hire inherits the standard instead of rebuilding it from scratch. A team good enough to be poached is also a team that no longer needs a retainer to think for it.
Strategy first if nobody can say out loud what the plan is. Training first if the plan exists and execution keeps missing it. And if you are spending under roughly $10k a month on media, do neither yet — the constraint is creative volume, not skill, and I would rather say that than sell you eight weeks.
