Interactive SEO-Optimised Business & Portfolio Websites
A site that looks good and ranks for nothing is a brochure with hosting costs. I build business and portfolio sites on the foundation search engines actually read — clean crawl paths, schema, Core Web Vitals inside threshold, internal links that point somewhere useful — then add the interactive pieces that hold a visitor long enough to enquire.
What you get
DELIVERABLES
- Site architecture and URL map built around search intent and the enquiry path
- Copy for every core page — services, portfolio, proof, contact — not only the homepage
- Validated schema markup: Organization, Service, Person, Breadcrumb and FAQ
- Core Web Vitals budget with LCP, INP and CLS measured on a mid-range phone
- Interactive sections that earn their weight — filterable work, quote calculators, progressive forms
- Internal linking map tying service pages, case studies and articles together
- GA4 and enquiry-event tracking, plus a CMS handover so updates don't need me
How it runs
THE PROCESS
Intent map
Keyword and question research turned into a page map — which URL answers what, where the enquiry sits, and which pages exist mainly to feed internal links.
Prototype
Wireframes with the real copy already written into them, every interactive element specced. If a motion idea costs load time without earning attention, it dies here.
Build
Front end built to a performance budget, schema written alongside the markup, internal links wired as pages ship rather than retrofitted the week before launch.
Index
Sitemap submitted, Core Web Vitals verified on field data, then a 30-day check on what Google is actually crawling, indexing and showing you for.
Questions
GOOD QUESTIONS
For a five-page site with no ranking ambition, yes — and you should. Those builders handle hosting and mobile layout fine. Where they cost you is URL control, schema, speed on mid-range phones, and the internal link structure that makes twenty pages rank instead of two. If organic enquiries are not part of the plan, save the money.
This lays the foundation; the SEO retainer compounds it. A site launched with clean architecture, valid schema and passing Core Web Vitals starts where most retainers spend their first three months getting to. If your current site is technically sound and only short on content and links, buy the retainer, not a rebuild.
The build runs six to nine weeks. Ranking is slower — early movement around month three, compounding by month six, and only if someone keeps publishing. Direct and referral traffic converts from launch day, which is usually what pays for the site while organic catches up.
Then we find where the drop is, because "it didn't work" is three different problems. No impressions is an indexing or intent problem. Impressions without clicks is a title and snippet problem. Clicks without enquiries is a page and offer problem. Tracking goes in before launch precisely so this conversation has data in it.
As usually built, decoration. An animation that delays LCP is a cost with no return. What earns its place is interaction tied to the decision — a filterable portfolio, a quote calculator, a form that asks one question at a time. If a piece cannot be justified that way, I will not build it.
